Music Choices

The website we are using to get our royalty free music is 'Beat Suite'. The music we have been looking at all revolve around the idea of building suspense and mystery due to the fact this is stereotypically what psychological thriller trailers contain. This is in order to keep the audience enticed until the very last shot.

At the beginning of the trailer we have decided to use the track 'Dark Undertow'. We are going to use the beginning of the track due to the fact it is quite a slow piece of music but is full of suspense. It consists of a monotone, ringing sound which we are going to use when Zacs mum finds out her son is dead. This piece of music will be able to connote her shock and inability to process what she has just found out. In my research I discovered many trailers such as 'The Girl On The Train' and 'Split' contains this style of music at the beginning and is it very effective in building suspense.

During the middle section of the trailer where the drama is at its peak we are going to be using the track 'Journey Into Darkness'. This track is of faster pace and includes the sound of drums. The drums, in the case of building suspense, sound like a heart beating fast this connotes to the audience the suspense of the trailer and raises tensions even higher. In my research I discovered that many thriller trailers contained this at the climax of the trailer such as the 'London To Brighton Trailer'.

At the very end of the trailer where a mystery person is seen picking the heads off flowers that had been placed on Zacs grave we are going to use the track 'Im Watching You'. This music is eery and slow. It contains the sound of bells which help to build the suspense until the very end of the trailer keeping the audience enticed.
